The University of Coimbra
One of the world’s oldest Universities, it’s now part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site. In 1290, it was founded in Lisbon and then relocated permanently to Coimbra in 1537.
By the Campus of Polo 1 there are the Cathedrals, Sé Nova and Sé Velha, both remarkable religious buildings.
The Botanical Garden, founded in 1772, covers an area of 13 ha that is full of rare and exotic species of plants, you can enjoy the most beautiful scenery in the bamboo garden or the glass house.
One way to fully experience Coimbra is to listen the Fado of Coimbra, on Quebra Costas you can visit the Cultural Centre “Fado ao Centro” where you can listen this enchanting type of traditional music.

It was the stage of the greatest love story of Pedro and Inês, a place full of beauty and where the legend lies, it states that from the tears of Inês it appeared a fountain than then was stained forever with her blood when she was forcefully separated from her love.
